Ones
to Buy
Goldenport
The
Greek shipping firm Goldenport is currently the only shipping
company listed on the main market of the LSE. It's 60% owned
by its founder and his family and has substantial committed
revenue streams, thanks to long-term contracts. Brokers
believe the potential is there - buy, advises the Mail on
Sunday.
Shed
Productions
Independent
TV production company Shed Productions area listed on the
AIM and have just completed the acquisition of a smaller
rival, Twenty-Twenty. Despite the axing of their hit series
Footballers' Wives last year, Shed are continuing to do
well, suggesting that they make a good long-term buy - The
Times.
Communisis
Print
company Communisis is one year into a three-year recovery
plan. New boss Steve Vaughan has a good track record at
this kind of thing and the firm is already showing worthwhile
efficiency savings. Buy, suggests the Mail on Sunday.
ARC
International
Integrated
circuit designer ARC has been the poor relation to ARM Holdings
for some time now, failing to recover quickly from the tech
bust of a few years ago. That may be changing, however,
with the signing of a major new deal between ARC and Intel
for the rights to some of ARC's technology. The company's
results are improving and there should be plenty of upside
left for prompt investors. Buy says The Telegraph.
Gyrus
Group
Medical
technology group Gyrus specialise in keyhole surgery and
have more than trebled in value over the last five years
- right up to a 25p fall in their share price this summer.
Results might be slightly down but the company remains fundamentally
strong and with good potential. Buy and keep, suggests The
Independent.
Ones
to Avoid
Northern
Rock
Many
of the city's analysts called Northern Rock wrong, believing
it would recover from its earlier difficulties. That all
changed a week ago and the stock should certainly be avoided
now unless you already hold it - in which case you may as
well hold on for a bid. Steer clear, says The Telegraph.
