UK Stocks and Shares and Investment tips
Top
of the Tips: Share Recommendations at 1 2 2008
Ones
to Buy
Prudential
The
man from the Pru may be no more, but Prudential's incursion
into Asian emerging markets is proving very successful.
With appetites for investment products remaining strong
at home and abroad, the Pru's recent share price volatility
seems undeserved. Should go much higher - buy, says the
Mail on Sunday. The Telegraph also has Prudential as a buy.
Wm
Morrison
The
supermarket chain appears to have turned itself around quite
successfully. Despite appearing fully priced, new CEO Marc
Bolland has impressed and the shares look like a safe haven
at present - buy, says The Telegraph.
Mama
Group
Mama
Group is in the music business - but not to sell CDs. Their
goal is to make money from the relationship between musicians
and their fans - through promoting live music, selling tickets,
marketing online and dealing in merchandise. They manage
more than 100 acts already and there could be big things
to come for this young company. Buy, suggests the Mail on
Sunday.
Kewill
Kewill
makes software for logistics operators. Its forecasts are
strong and it is also an attractive takeover prospect. Either
prospect should result in rising share prices - buy, says
The Times.
Ones
to Avoid
Experian
Credit
reference agency Experian has diversified over the last
two years - entering several new markets and purchasing
two leading price comparison websites. Despite this, there
is a lot of potential downside - sell, recommend The Telegraph.
Misys
Financial
software group Misys may be making good progress, but it
is hard to avoid suspecting that they will be affected by
a banking downturn. Steer clear and sell, says The Times.
Lonmin
Mining
group Lonmin appear to have missed the boat slightly in
the current platinum boom. It recently reported a 19% drop
in output for the first quarter - just as demand is peaking.
A takeover is still a possibility, but overall prospects
look questionable. Avoid, says The Times.
