UK Stocks and Shares and Investment tips
Top
of the Tips: Share Recommendations at 29 Feb 2008
Ones
to Buy
Travelzest
This
specialist luxury holiday company provides high-quality
holidays to discerning customers. With no high street presence
and no pre-booked blocks of hotel rooms and airline seats,
its low overheads give it considerable flexibility. Shares
are currently at around half of last year's peak value -
unfairly, believes the Mail on Sunday. Buy.
BAE
Systems
Defence
and aerospace giant BAE has just released excellent full
year results. These results, combined with a favourable
forward P/E ratio of 13.5 mean that BAE should be a buy
- The Times and The Telegraph.
Tomkins
Engineering
company Tomkins has maintained last year's dividend - meaning
that its shares currently have an attractive yield of 7.3%.
This makes them attractive from both a capital growth and
income point of view - buy, say The Independent and The
Telegraph.
Domino's
Pizza
Pizza
chain Domino's has been bucking the trend of reduced takings
in the food sector and is currently looking good for a £22m
profit in 2008. Despite the shares sitting at a 2008 multiple
of 22, Domino's have always delivered reliably - buy, says
The Independent.
Dicom
Dicom
is a software company that produces scanning software for
electronic capture of forms and documents. It's a growing
area and the company should profit in a downturn through
the efficiency savings that result from usage of its software.
Currently trading on a low earnings multiple for 2008, The
Times recommends you buy on weakness.
Ones
to Avoid
Premium
Bars & Restaurants
The
bar and restaurant group is currently enjoying a share price
of 27 times earnings. While this may be good news for existing
shareholders, it's not a good time to buy - hold off, says
The Times.
Pendragon
Car
retailer Pendragon is currently trading on just 6.5 times
earnings with a 12% yield. However, the company's valuation
could still fall further, so buyers should wait, according
to The Telegraph.
